Saturday: Toro Rosso does not progress in qualifying

Small day for Scuderia Toro Rosso, which never showed a presence on the second day of the Valencia Grand Prix. Certainly, no major problems to report, but the results remain mediocre, especially considering that the single-seaters are on the same level as Red Bull’s RBR5s.

The difference comes down to the drivers. Jaime Alguersuari, even in front of his home crowd, lacks experience and ranks 19th overall for the day. He is not last thanks to Badoer and can be grateful to him. Sébastien Buemi managed to enter Q2 but completely lost his way. He will start from the 15th position in the race tomorrow.

Sébastien Buemi – 11th and 15th:

« Even though I made it into Q2, I’m a bit disappointed because I reached sixth place in Q1 with a good lap time and then in Q2, we didn’t manage the situation with the tires. I ended up doing worse than in Q1. Now we need to look at what happened, because I think I had the ability to make it into Q3. We are making progress. »

Jaime Alguersuari – 19th and 19th:

« I know what I’m capable of, and it’s only my second qualifying session, so I have to be patient. I’m happy because even though this track is longer than during my first race in Hungary, the gap between the drivers in front of me is reducing. I feel more confident in the car each time I drive it. It’s going to be difficult tomorrow because it seems to be hotter. I think I can do a good job in the race. It’s my home GP, and we hope to finish at least in the top fifteen.
