Vettel had retired, and Webber secured a small podium. The goal is to urgently regroup, especially since Brawn GP seems to be in good form.
This Friday went well for the Austrian team and its drivers. Sebastian Vettel ranked in the top 10 in both sessions, driving an RBR5 that still seems enjoyable to drive. Mark Webber is slightly further back with only 8th and 14th fastest times between the morning and the afternoon. However, confidence is high this evening on the eve of the qualifications.
Sebastian Vettel – 5th and 9th:
Today, everyone seems to agree, there were no problems, and we had a good Friday. I think we are more or less competitive, but Fernando [Alonso] was very fast towards the end of the second session, which was a surprise. We need to improve for tomorrow. We must carefully review our days and see what we are missing compared to others.
Mark Webber – 8th and 14th:
« We did a lot of laps today. We achieved good things this evening. We compared the tires, which was quite straightforward. We have work to do tonight, this track is a bit like in Bahrain, with walls! »
