Nick Heidfeld expresses confidence in his racing chances in Formula 1 next season, despite BMW’s announcement of their departure at the end of the year. The 32-year-old German, who has participated in 160 Grand Prix races, was under contract until the end of this season anyway. It was even said that he was exploring his options even before learning about BMW’s withdrawal.

“I was even convinced that I wouldn’t necessarily be with BMW next year,” Heidfeld said. “I was already in talks with other teams before the decision was made public. Of course, my search has intensified over the past two weeks, and yes, I am confident about my future.”

Heidfeld had been with BMW since 2005, having previously driven for Jordan, Williams, Sauber, and Prost since the year 2000. When asked about the progress on a possible deal with another team, he states: « It is always difficult to describe exactly a situation on a given day. We are in talks with several teams and I think the situation is quite advanced. »
