The Australian Grand Prix has welcomed the new Concorde Agreement, which guarantees a race in Melbourne next year.

The directors of the Australian GP threatened to withdraw from the Formula 1 calendar at the start of the season after the threat of a parallel championship because they did not want to host a race without the major teams.

But after the FIA announced that a new agreement had been signed, the AGPC expressed its satisfaction with the conclusions of the agreement.

‘The Australian Grand Prix Corporation’ is pleased to announce the new agreement between the FIA, the Formula 1 teams, and the commercial rights holders, AGPC stated in a press release.

« This agreement brings stability to Formula 1 and ensures that the best teams will take part in the championship for the coming years and will all be at Albert Park in March 2010. »
