The third part of the Hungarian GP qualifying session was delayed after Felipe Massa for Ferrari crashed into the tire wall at the end of Q2.
The Ferrari driver crashed heavily at turn 4 after being hit by debris that struck his helmet violently.
Massa was knocked out but managed to brake somewhat before the crash at nearly 250km/h. The medical team was dispatched to the scene. He was then taken to the medical center.
His state of health was initially unknown, but then the Brazilian waved while being evacuated by helicopter, reassuring! Felipe Massa was transported to a hospital in Budapest in stable condition.
A spokesperson for the FIA confirmed that Massa was in a stable condition, but he did not have more details on the severity of his injuries.
According to the latest information, it would be a spring from Rubens Barrichello’s BGP001 that caused the accident. The Brazilian confirmed this to TF1. He also mentions cuts on Massa’s head, but his health condition is said to be reassuring.
Ferrari confirms this hypothesis and wishes the best for its driver.
