Williams once again confirms its good form in practice sessions but especially its strong performance over the past few Grand Prix. This time, both drivers, Nico Rosberg and young Kazuki Nakajima, are at the top in both practice sessions. A true achievement considering the minuscule differences separating the drivers from each other.
There are therefore few concerns about the FW31, the setup seems to be validated, and the different types of tires have been tested. See you tomorrow then!
Nico Rosberg – 2nd and 3rd:
« We made progress today in both sessions, but I still don’t feel completely satisfied with the car and I think we can still improve a little more tomorrow. The tire strategies will be very interesting since the two compounds are very close. The softs being slower than the others. We will need to carefully analyze how we will conduct our race and I think the answer may not be very obvious. We also spent time testing the new aerodynamic parts we have here. »
Kazuki Nakajima – 5th and 5th
« It was a good session today. We recorded some quite long stints. Of course, there are a few minor problems. We will try to solve them by working with the data we have collected. »
Sam Michael – Technical Director
« It was two good practice sessions today, we managed to get a good setup as well as test new aerodynamic parts this morning. Everything went well on both fronts. We then spent the afternoon evaluating the two types of tires. We are now focusing on qualifying and setting up the car for tomorrow. We did not have any technical issues today. »
