Rankings: At Suzuka, the 6th title for Red Bull and the pressure on Mercedes

After 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2022, it’s done. Red Bull has won its 6th Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship. With 6 more Grand Prix races and 3 sprint races to go, the end of the season is still packed with points to be awarded. The Austrian team has done what was necessary in a season where their only misstep occurred at the Singapore Grand Prix last week.

Max Verstappen, by winning this Grand Prix, surpasses the Mercedes and Ferrari and manages to secure the constructor’s title alone. Sergio Perez was forced to retire after losing his wing twice due to contacts.

On the side of the constructors, there is still some suspense. Ferrari is closing in on Mercedes, being 20 points away from P2. With an interesting pace in its recent races, Scuderia Ferrari can therefore compete for the position of vice-champion.

No change for the other positions except McLaren, who is getting closer to Aston Martin thanks to their podium. The Woking team can still fight for 4th place.

Max Verstappen crowned champion in Qatar, next time?

Max Verstappen is leading this world championship by a wide margin. He is not yet crowned. He will need to outscore his teammate next weekend in terms of points to hope to be crowned.

Lando Norris is tied with George Russell in 7th place.

Piastri thanks to his first podium in Formula 1 moves up two positions in the championship, going from 11th to 9th place, managing to overtake Stroll and Gasly. There are therefore no more French drivers in the top 10 of the championship, nor any Alpine drivers.
