The Scuderia Toro Rosso has confirmed that the Frenchman, Sébastien Bourdais, is no longer part of the team and, consequently, participated in his last Formula 1 race during the German Grand Prix last weekend. No official announcement has been made regarding his replacement.
Having faced a series of rumors, his withdrawal at the Nürburgring is indeed his latest result in F1.
« For his second year with us, his participation did not meet our expectations and, consequently, we have decided to replace him starting from the next World Championship Grand Prix, the Hungarian Grand Prix », confirmed Franz Tost, director of the Italian team.
An official announcement is expected from the team, confirming the British Formula 3 champion, Jaime Alguersuari, today in tests for Toro Rosso, on the day of Sébastien Bourdais’ dismissal confirmation.
The Spaniard was recently named as the reserve driver for both Red Bull teams, replacing the New Zealander Brendon Hartley.
Sébastien Bourdais is the last French driver to have been entered in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
