Ecclestone criticized by his employer, CVC

The highly controversial comments by Bernie Ecclestone about Adolf Hitler have been condemned by CVC Capital Partners, a board member along with Sir Martin Sorrell.

Sorrell, a Jewish businessman who sits on the board of directors that employs Ecclestone as CEO of CVC, said he was disgusted by the comments. He added that Ecclestone was lucky to remain in his position.

« I am appalled by what he said about Hitler, » Sorrell said today in the Daily Mail. « His comments are disgusting. He is lucky because any other CEO of any other company would have disappeared. »

These criticisms follow rumors of a forced cancellation of work sessions. Ecclestone claims to be working to build a new Concorde Agreement.

« Any rumors suggesting that I am going somewhere are completely false. I don’t know where this is coming from. »

It has been reported that Sorrell and other prominent figures within CVC, including Peter Brabeck, have discussed Ecclestone’s succession to place him in a more honorary role.

But Donald Mackenzie, a member of CVC, sees things differently: « Bernie Ecclestone will remain in his position. There is no reason for him to be moved to an honorary position. There has never been any doubt about this. »
