The Toro Rosso is not performing well. The team is not managing to improve the performance of the STR4, and reliability is still an issue. Both Sébastien [Bourdais and Buemi] are not happy with their weekend. However, there is significant hope due to the updates that will arrive in two weeks for the next Grand Prix in Hungary.
Buemi finishes deep in the standings, in a forgettable race and with a major lack of grip, while Bourdais can’t see the checkered flag. The Frenchman retires mid-race due to a hydraulic problem with the car. The Champ Car champion is once again disappointed and frustrated.
Sebastien Buemi – 16th:
« The race was difficult for me. I got a good start and my early race was good. But when I put on the soft tires during my first pit stop, I lacked a lot of grip and was sliding everywhere. So it’s not very positive, but we will have updates soon and we should be more competitive. »
Sébastien Bourdais – Retirement:
After doing several warm-up laps, I wanted to go out on hard tires, which for me was a good solution. Unfortunately, I had a mechanical problem and had to retire. It’s a shame because I was fueled up and was managing to keep the gap with those ahead of me. I could have likely closed the gap and moved up in the standings.
Franz Tost – Director:
« Once again, congratulations to Red Bull Racing for their superb performance. As for us, we had a major hydraulic problem on Bourdais’s STR4. With Buemi, we had a good start. He gained 4 places. But then, he complained about a lack of grip and couldn’t control the rear. Now, we hope that in Hungary, with the new aerodynamic package, we can close the gap with our competitors and climb up the hierarchy! »
