Results: Best performance of the season for Williams

Who could have imagined it? After the qualifications, the Williams team was plunged into doubt as both of its drivers were starting far down in 13th and 15th place. A largely positive result as Rosberg is very close to the podium, ultimately finishing 4th with 5 new points in the standings. He achieved this feat not without difficulty as he was the victim of a problem with his refueling.

His teammate, the Japanese driver Nakajima, is 12th, which is not a bad performance as both cars show very good pace over the course of a race. It’s enough to look to the future with optimism or at least to the Hungarian GP, which is now on the horizon.

Nico Rosberg – 4th:

« It’s a fantastic result for us today. I started 15th and honestly, I didn’t expect too much to finish 9th! Even though I had a lot of fuel, I was pushing very hard and I was lucky that Heikki Kovalanien created a bit of traffic behind him. I also overcame a problem with the fuel system, which makes the race even better. We keep making progress with our car, our level of development is good, and our pace can only be good. I’m eagerly looking forward to Hungary because I think it will be another race where we can have a good result. »

Kazuki Nakajima – 12th:

« My race was really decided on my first lap. I was hit by Jarno Trulli and in the process, I just found myself at the back of the field. It’s frustrating because my race was ruined from there. But I believe our pace was good today, which would have allowed us to finish near the points. Our strategy would have worked well, but all that is irrelevant now.

Sam Michael – Technical Director

« It was a good day for the team today, the best result since the beginning of the year. Nico [Rosberg] had a great first lap and did his job in the race. We had a problem with the fuel system on his car. However, fourth place is a very good result and it’s deserved given our efforts today. Kazuki [Nakajima] was fast today, but he was never in the right place at the right time with the traffic. Having started from 13th and 15th places, it’s welcome to finish fourth and consolidate our place in the championship. Congratulations to Mark [Webber] and it was great to hear the Australian national anthem in the paddocks. »
