Red Bull fined with Vettel!

The Red Bull team was just fined €10,000 for dangerous activity in qualifying this afternoon during the 2009 German Grand Prix.

The stewards, after reviewing a video of the second part of qualifying – Q2 – determined that the Red Bull team had demonstrated potentially dangerous intentions when the lights turned green at the beginning of Q2.

About ten single-seaters were queuing in the pit lane. Once the green light was on, Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull did not want to let Kazuki Nakajima’s Williams pass, even though it was waiting to merge into the pack.

Nakajima’s pit box was in front of Vettel, the Japanese driver was positioned before the German, who should have let him through. The two men then found themselves side by side in the pit lane. This scenario displeased the stewards and track officials, who blamed Red Bull and Vettel.

The team, for not asking Vettel to let Nakajima pass, will have to pay a fine of €10,000.
