Friday: Toyota rises into the top 5 thanks to Trulli

The same two single-seaters but very different results for Toyota at the end of this Friday within the framework of the German Grand Prix. Once again, it’s Jarno Trulli who is leading the troops. He successfully completed two good test sessions, finishing in the top 5 each time. Confident, the Italian should make headlines this weekend.

His teammate, Timo Glock, faced more difficulties as he finished beyond 15th place. Set-up issues and therefore the arrangement are currently hindering the native. The support of his fans was supposed to help him surpass himself.

Jarno Trulli – 4th and 5th:

« It was a normal Friday for me, although the weather affected the course of things. This could be the case throughout the entire weekend. We tried both tire compounds and did some setup work, but there were times when the track was wet and it’s not easy to make comparisons. I am very happy and still very optimistic for the weekend considering the results at the end of each session. This is one of the home races for the team, I would be very happy to offer a reward to all the people who support us here. We had a promising start, but of course, there is still progress to be made. »

Timo Glock – 19th and 15th:

« It’s my race, it was nice to see fans in the stands and it’s a good feeling to drive in front of them. The practice sessions were very tough for me today. I struggled a bit in the first session to find the perfect balance, but we worked hard between sessions to find ways to improve. The afternoon session started very well. I think towards the end we didn’t have the best setup. We need to look at the data and make adjustments. I’m really motivated to do well in the race. So I’m going to push very hard and we will do everything possible overnight and tomorrow to be in good shape for qualifying. »

Dieter Gass – Chief Engineer of Race and Test:

Overall, it was a good day. We had some new aerodynamic elements that we evaluated to gain some useful information even though we didn’t have any technical issues with the car. The times were very close, with only a one-second gap in the top 16 in the afternoon. It’s very cold today, and it feels more like winter testing than a July GP, but the weather is the same for everyone. The low track temperature doesn’t seem to have too much of a negative impact on us. Regarding the tires, the super-soft compound seems to work a bit better than we expected. So, for a Friday, we’re in a good position. Now, we need to see what the weather has in store for the rest of the weekend, especially Sunday.
