German GP: Ferrari increasingly confident in its F60

New race weekend for Scuderia Ferrari, which is now well established in 4th place in the constructors’ championship. Considering its catastrophic start to the season, it’s clear that there have been numerous improvements to achieve a first podium at the legendary Monaco circuit. For now, the team arrives at the Nurburgring track with no pretensions.

The two drivers, Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa, want to get through Friday with its series of tests to more accurately assess the situation. In any case, a win is not on the agenda, but a podium finish, why not…

Felipe Massa – Racing Driver:

« I arrived today at the Nurburgring and I am eager to get behind the wheel of the F60 to drive on this track. This circuit should suit our car better than Silverstone. Everything will depend on how we manage the tires, and even though we have some new elements with Kimi [Räikkönen], it’s impossible to say at this stage what we can expect from this weekend. The first half of the season was very difficult to predict, and I don’t see why it would be any different for the second half. »

Kimi Räikkönen – Racing Driver

The statistics and results say otherwise, but I really like racing in Germany, especially at Nurburgring. I have secured pole position four times here but have never been able to win the race. Maybe it’s just bad luck here and at Hockenheim. Just look at the last race for example. I grabbed pole position but right after the start there was a shower and the race was suspended. When it restarted, I found myself in third position with a perfect strategy, but then I had to retire due to a hydraulic problem. Realistically this year, our goal is not a victory. We still have too large a gap compared to the leading teams in terms of performance level. That’s why the team has continued to work very hard over the past few weeks to bring solutions.

« The track should suit the F60 better compared to Silverstone, but we will have a clearer idea after Friday’s practice. To be competitive, you need a car with good grip and stability under braking. It is always difficult to make predictions. For us, today, a podium finish is already a good result, considering our level this year. »
