McLaren has confirmed that the team will be in Russia in July to participate in the Moscow Racing event. The annual motorsport festival, which is expected to attract thousands of Muscovites, will take place on July 19, between the German and Hungarian Grand Prix.
Heikki Kovalainen will be in action with the MP4-23 car that crowned Lewis Hamilton a few months ago. The show will take place on a 4.5-kilometer track in the heart of the Russian city. The Finn will drive his car in front of St. Basil’s Cathedral, Red Square, and the Kremlin. A fantastic setting for this event that further highlights Russia’s desire to join the F1 calendar by hosting an official race.
« I am really looking forward to doing this demonstration in Russia, » said Kovalainen. « Moscow is a magnificent city to showcase Formula 1, it is an incredible opportunity. For everyone who frequents it, you absolutely must come to this event. »
Williams, who dispatched Nico Rosberg last year, and Red Bull are also expected on Sunday, July 19th.
