The CEO at Williams, Adam Parr, remains hopeful of seeing his team rejoin the FOTA (Formula One Teams Association) now that the conflict with the FIA has been resolved.
The governing body announced Wednesday that an agreement had been reached with the teams and that, as a result, there would be only one championship next year.
The Williams and Force India teams were excluded from FOTA after submitting their entry for the 2010 championship at the end of May, while the rest of the teams remained in opposition to change the rules introduced by the FIA.
However, Parr now hopes that the two teams will be reinstated in their roles within the federation.
« I hope so. I think it’s something we all want to see, » Adam Parr told the press. « It is essential that Williams, Force India, and the new teams be part of the discussions in the future. »
He also admitted that his team is pleased with this resolution of the crisis after months of uncertainty.
« Last weekend, I reaffirmed Williams’ position. We were optimistic that a solution would be found. We are absolutely delighted with the results of the agreement for the next Formula 1 World Championship. So, there will be all the current teams and three new ones. »
« The FOTA, the FIA, and the FOM (Formula One Management) have engaged in a cost reduction program. The sport will emerge greater and stronger than it has been in recent years. »
« On cost savings, we understand the objective that has been decided. But I think there will be a lot of details to define on how this will be done and what the target will be, » concluded Parr.
