All French Formula 1 fans hope that a new site is found to reinstate a French Grand Prix.
After the disappearance of the Magny-Cours event but also the Disneyland Paris project, Alain Prost stated last month that the Flins – Les Mureaux project is affected by political issues.
While French Formula 1 fans are downhearted, it’s the archaeologists who are rejoicing over the latest news. The newspaper Le Parisien claims that a 13,000-year-old archaeological site has been discovered on the very location of the potential Flins – Les Mureaux circuit. This does not bode well for the project team, who view this discovery very unfavorably.
The absence of France from the 2009 World Championship calendar is a first since 1955.
