Williams has been in good form since the Monaco Grand Prix. The English team continues to prove it this weekend at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix, leading Rosberg to 5th place. Nakajima finishes 11th with some regrets on his part.
The two drivers had a very good start. Rosberg benefited from a good strategy to bring back 4 points during the team’s home race at Grove. Nakajima, for his part, was in 4th position for a time and could have scored at least three points if he hadn’t encountered a problem during his first pit stop.
Constantly improving performances make the team enthusiastic but paradoxically disappointed not to have done better at home.
Nico Rosberg – 5th:
« I am really happy for the team and myself with this good race. We didn’t get the result we deserved, but I was stuck for a long time behind Barrichello when he was slow in his second stint. That’s probably what cost me the 4th place to Massa. The whole team is doing a really good job, and I really want to thank them for that. We are performing well almost everywhere, and I look forward to seeing how it will go in the upcoming races.
Kazuki Nakajima – 11th:
« This result is not very good for me. There is no particular reason. I am happy with my start and I think I was having a good race when I got stuck in the pit a little too long at my first refueling stop, and then I struggled to find the performance with the car. »
Sam Michael – Technical Director
« It’s good to score some points this weekend thanks to Nico [Rosberg]’s 5th place. It proves that we are heading in the right direction. He drove perfectly but it’s a shame he got caught in traffic for a while. I think he could have done better otherwise. He set the third fastest time in the race behind the two Red Bulls. For Kazuki [Nakajima], on the other hand, the strategy wasn’t optimal but he perfectly helped the team find the best set-up this weekend. »
