Ecclestone open to keeping Silverstone on the calendar

The big financier of Formula 1, Bernie Ecclestone, has hinted at the continuation of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone next year. He revealed that there is now an alternative if the Donington Park plans are not ready for the fall.

A few months ago, Ecclestone stated that if Donington Park wasn’t ready in time then there would be no British race. His attitude has changed significantly.

Speaking to the BBC this Saturday, Ecclestone said: « We have an agreement, as everyone knows, with Donington and I hope they will be able to honor it and do all the things they are supposed to do. »

« And if they can’t, we will return to Silverstone. »

Ecclestone stated that this change in attitude comes from the owner of Silverstone, the British Racing Drivers Club, which has also changed its way of thinking.

« There has been a big change with the BRDC. They have more salespeople involved, and these people are ready to do whatever we want, for the simple reason that we went first, » explained the Briton.
