Friday: Brawn GP victim of the English wind!

Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello have begun their preparation for the British Grand Prix. The two Brawn GP drivers were on track today during Free Practice 1 and 2 but did not show their best performance.

The BGP 001 appeared to have been victims of the strong English wind. Button and Barrichello accumulated kilometers, especially in the afternoon to test the tires and aerodynamics. Barrichello completed 55 laps, Button 48.

Rubens Barrichello – 4th and 6th:

« We had a decent day, with good progress on balance particularly in the second session. However, we still have a lot of work to do tonight, and the pace of our closest competitors is truly impressive; we need to keep a closer eye on them. We’ll also have to see how the track develops tomorrow and hope it evolves in the direction we want. »

Jenson Button – 3rd and 14th:

« We tested many different aerodynamic settings today and early in the day I couldn’t get any grip, whether in slow turns or fast curves. The wind also greatly affected the car’s performance. Nevertheless, we made good progress at the end of the afternoon and we need to properly process this information to make further progress before qualifying.

Ross Brawn – Director

« The evolution of the track in the morning and the strong wind did not help us in setting up the car, and it’s something we need to look into tonight before finalizing our program. However, this afternoon’s session was more productive, and both drivers agreed on the adjustments to be made. We need to be cautious with the data collected, but I believe it will be useful for setting up the car’s aerodynamics before qualifying. »
