British GP: High Hopes for Force India at Home

As the Force India team says very well, it is impossible for a team to do better over the distance between a circuit and a design factory. For the Indian team, there are only 400 meters to cover... So it's a home race! The team is maximizing its chances by introducing a new aerodynamic package on its VJM02 cars.

British GP: High Hopes for Force India at Home

The two drivers, Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella, are starting with a positive mindset, aiming for Q2 in qualifying and the 8th place, which would mean securing a point in the race.

Adrian Sutil – Racing Driver:

« The team is based 400 meters from the main entrance of Silverstone; it’s like a second home for me now because I go there often. The race is very special, not only because it’s a home race, but there is a unique atmosphere that you can’t find anywhere else. British fans love motorsport, and it’s not just about Lewis [Hamilton] or Jenson [Button]; you really feel this sense of excitement for the sport in general. »

The circuit is also marvelous. It is very fast, and there are surprising sequences such as Copse and Maggotts that you must take at high speed. The last sector slows you down a bit, and you inevitably lose your rhythm. However, the last corner at Woodcote can be challenging. The walls are very close!

« We will have a new aerodynamic package at Silverstone and I am really looking forward to testing it in the race. We have accumulated data at the factory and it shows a clear improvement, I can’t wait to have it on my car. I had a good race in Turkey. I could fight alongside the McLarens, points are in sight. »

Giancarlo Fisichella – Racing Driver

« Silverstone is a historic track and the atmosphere there is great. The whole team works so hard for so little reward in terms of points and results. I really hope we put on a show. With the upcoming updates, some say it’s possible. »

For me, it’s one of the best circuits of the year. The first part of the circuit, from Copse to Becketts, the speed is very high. You have to slow down somewhat at the end of the pit straight, then we go full throttle again. Even turn 7, Stowe, is fast. If this year is the last race at Silverstone, I will be sad not to return there.

Vijay Mallya – Team Principal:

« We have an important update scheduled for this weekend. We will introduce changes to the front wings, bodywork, and floor with one or two additional details elsewhere. It’s a big step forward and I’m very happy that the team is able to study, build, and then challenge its car before the summer break. Our development rate is quite impressive, given the small number of people and the limited budget we have. I hope that everything will transform into a step forward this weekend. »

« Silverstone is a home race for us. I hope we achieve the best performances with the car by qualifying for Q2 without difficulty. »
