Having secured a spot on the 2010 starting grid, the USF1 American team based in North Carolina will very soon announce the names of its drivers for the upcoming season.
The co-founder of the team, Peter Windsor, stated in a press conference that even though the FIA confirmed the team’s presence in the 2010 championship last Friday, a list of potential American drivers already existed.
« We have already evaluated young Americans, and there are very good American drivers on site. »
« We will make a decision on this very soon, » the 57-year-old man stated to BBC radio.
In addition to his work in the media, Windsor also worked with F1 teams, notably as team manager for Williams when Sir Frank Williams had his car accident in 1986, and also as director of the chassis department at Scuderia Ferrari.
His partner in this venture, Ken Anderson, has, for his part, led the technical departments at Ligier and Onyx, created significant wind tunnel components, and designed multiple now-winning IndyCars.
Last Friday, during the official announcement, Windsor stated: « I have dedicated a lot of time to this sport and this is a very big day for me. »
