Bruno Senna declares that he is ready to wait until 2010 to find a place in Formula 1 even if a vacancy opens up during the 2009 season.

The nephew of the three-time world champion Ayrton Senna had been widely touted as a future recruit for the sport in 2009 with Honda.

Unfortunately, the Japanese manufacturer has decided to withdraw from the top category of motorsports. Honda has been replaced by another team, Brawn GP, but the team principal Ross Brawn has chosen to retain its experienced drivers, Jenson Button and especially Rubens Barrichello.

Speaking about the possibility of finding a good seat this year if one became available, Senna said: « It would really have to be a good opportunity because F1 is a very competitive sport and there are no tests. »

« It’s about analyzing the risk. If the team has a good simulator then maybe, but if driving a single-seater on Friday is my first experience, I think it’s a bad idea. »

To the question of whether he prefers to wait until 2010 to start his F1 career, he stated: « It’s my preference, yes. »
