Here are two races that the Toyota team had been waiting for. The return to the points. The Spanish and Monaco Grand Prix were to be forgotten, and Toyota did so to come back stronger in Turkey.
Objective achieved, therefore, with six new points. Five thanks to Jarno Trulli and his 4th place and one thanks to Timo Glock’s 8th position. High expectations are already set for the British race in two weeks.
Jarno Trulli – 4th:
« I am happy with the race, the result, and also the car. We have worked really hard to find more performance, and it is good to be back in the fight for a podium. The team deserves this result this weekend, including the engineers. My start was incredible, and I gained two places in the first corner, but then I struggled on the first lap by locking my wheels. I often fought with Nico Rosberg. He got the upper hand at the first pit stop, but I bounced back to do the opposite on the second stop. I was really competitive towards the end when there were a lot of rubbers on the track. It was very enjoyable to fight at the front. I started this weekend with a positive feeling by quickly finding a good set-up. I am therefore extremely happy to be back at a competitive level. »
Timo Glock – 8th:
« It’s not easy to score points from 13th place on the grid. I had a good start, but another car pushed me outside. I lost a few positions, so maybe the result could have been even better. But in the end, I’m happy to score a point because the car was very fast. It’s difficult to gain positions in Formula 1, but our strategy was good, the pit stops were good, and the car setup shows the team’s qualities. Our goal before the race was to get into the points, I’m happy to achieve it and I’m already thinking about the next race. »
Tadashi Yamashina – Team Principal:
« It is very satisfying for both drivers who finished in the points here. We are back at the front of the grid, and that’s where we want to be in every race. This is the best result we could achieve. However, we obviously want to be back on the podium, even though we have shown a very clear improvement, we will continue to push as hard as possible to gain more performance. There is still a gap between us and the other teams ahead of us. I am optimistic for the British Grand Prix, we think the Silverstone track will suit our car. »
