Saturday: Tough points tomorrow for Williams

After respectable practice sessions on Friday and Saturday morning, the two Williams drivers had more difficulty asserting themselves during the qualifying session for the Turkish Grand Prix. The main problem at this time is the race strategy concerning the tires. Indeed, the team is unable to determine whether the soft or hard tires provide the most performance.

In any case, Nico Rosberg will start from 9th place and Kazuki Nakajima from 12th, with a shared determination to score points.

Nico Rosberg – 8th and 9th:

« It really wasn’t easy to choose between the soft and hard tires for a quick lap today, or to maintain balance on the car in case of a switch between the two types of compounds. I might have lost a position because of that, but I’m on the clean side of the grid tomorrow, which will help us get a good start and maybe gain some positions. Since we also have a good race car, we’re aiming for points, which is important for me as well as for the team. »

Kazuki Nakajima – 4th and 12th:

« It was a pretty difficult qualifying session with the tire choice. We weren’t entirely sure which type of compound would be best. For us, there’s not much difference, and this morning, the tests didn’t really clarify things. In Q1, I struggled with the softs, but unfortunately in Q2 with the others, there was no improvement, and I didn’t get the results I wanted. It’s going to be tough to get into the points, but I’m going to fight. »

Sam Michael – Technical Director:

Q1 and Q2 were successful for both drivers, Nico [Rosberg] achieved a time only four-tenths slower than the fastest in Q2. With the fuel in his car in Q3, we weren’t entirely satisfied, but we will quickly find out everyone’s fuel loads. I’m sure both drivers will be able to fight for points. Once again, the competition is fierce as we can see from the times.
