Saturday: New Q2 session for Force India

Progress is increasingly being felt on the Force India team. For the second consecutive qualifying session, Adrian Sutil made it to Q2 and will ultimately start from 15th place. A little earthquake, as it comes somewhat at the expense of Lewis Hamilton.

The German’s teammate, Giancarlo Fisichella, faced a bit more difficulty today as he remains stuck in the last place. The Italian suffered from brake issues on the VJM02. As in Monaco, expectations can be high for Force India.

Adrian Sutil – 16th and 15th:

« It was really a good qualifying session for us and I am very happy with this 15th place and making it to Q2 again for the second race in a row. We didn’t expect this because we had a few small problems this weekend. We managed a good lap, that’s what counts. I am happy for the team and I think we can be very proud today. I am looking forward to the race, tomorrow we will see what we can do. »

Giancarlo Fisichella – 20th and 19th:

« I had a brake issue today which caused some wheel locking, but we made a few changes between free practice 3 and qualifying. Then, unfortunately, on my best lap there was a yellow flag because Piquet went off track. It was possible to be in the top 15. I think the soft tires will be more challenging to manage tomorrow, especially with the heat. I hope we can have a good race from where we are on the grid. »

Dominic Harlow – Chief Race Engineer:

« We are obviously very happy to be in Q2 for the second race with Adrian [Sutil]. He simply pushed to achieve clean qualifying laps, which shows how much we are improving in terms of performance. Giancarlo [Fisichella] had faulty brakes this morning. A hot race is expected with potentially different tire performances. »
