The 2007 Formula 1 World Champion, Kimi Räikkönen, will once again try his hand at rallying during the Rally della Marca in Italy taking place this weekend. Having already participated in the Arctic Lapland Rally four months ago, the Finn will now take on the dry and paved Italian roads rather than the snowy and icy ones of January.
There will be no soft or hard tires or simply KERS for Räikkönen this weekend. He will team up with Kaj Lindstrom, who will have the task of guiding him throughout the event.
« I would like to thank Scuderia Ferrari for giving me the opportunity to take part in such a competition, » said Räikkönen on the Italian team’s website.
« I am eagerly looking forward to this weekend, and it will be my first experience on the tarmac after some tests on the snow last winter. »
Räikkönen drives with Ferrari but this weekend he will be behind the wheel of a car provided by the sister company, FIAT, with the Grande Punto S2000.
« As I am generally on track at a circuit throughout the year, it will be interesting to see what I am capable of on the roads, » he added.
