Report: Ferrari has its best weekend since 2008

Ferrari can be relieved, the massive amount of work deployed since the beginning of the season is starting to be rewarded. As a result, from the qualifying sessions, the Scuderia was in the top 5 and in the race, they did even better by reaching the top 4.

It’s Vettel’s retirement that allowed him to score 11 points. Six from Kimi Räikkönen with his 3rd place finish and five from Felipe Massa finishing 4th. In the championship, the leap is impressive as Ferrari is now the 4th force. A resurgence of energy to be confirmed on the Istanbul track in two weeks.

Kimi Räikkönen – 3rd:

« I can’t be happy with this third place, because my goal is always to win, but still, this podium is very satisfying for the whole team after a very difficult start to the season. I am happy because we are back at the top. Over the past few weeks, we have made a real step forward in terms of performance and this result confirms it. We still have work to do to catch up with the best, but we are heading in the right direction. This weekend, if some details had been worked on differently, the result could have been different. But overall, we can be happy. »

Felipe Massa – 4th:

« I am very happy with my performance. The car is very competitive: It is clear that we are on the right track and we hope that we can soon compete for victory. At the start, I lost a lot of time behind Vettel and then, because I made a mistake, I was also overtaken by Rosberg. But after that, I was better and I think Kimi’s 3rd place was achievable. At the second stop, I found myself just behind Button but was not able to capitalize on this opportunity. We are still lacking a bit of aerodynamic downforce compared to the Brawns, but it is still too early to claim to be the second team in the championship. What is certain is that we are working well and I am sure that the results will follow. »

Stefano Domenicali – Team Principal:

« The most important thing today is the confirmation that our car is competitive, thanks to the tremendous amount of work everyone puts in at Scuderia, both in Maranello and on the track. It was not easy to work under these conditions, and I want to thank everyone. Today, we achieved third and fourth places, which, considering the difficult start to the season, are good results, but they are still not what we want. Our goal is to be ahead of everyone, and we will do everything in our power to achieve this goal as soon as possible. »
