Felipe Massa insists that this weekend in Monaco could be the turning point for his team, Ferrari, after a more than catastrophic start to the season. The Italian team has scored six points in the first five races, and Massa admitted after the Spanish Grand Prix that his title hopes are now slim.
The Brazilian is 38 points behind the leader, that is to say, Jenson Button, while Ferrari is 62 points behind Brawn.
However, the Maranello team showed better form in Barcelona thanks to the introduction of a new package. Massa admitted that, despite the lack of results, he was satisfied with his driving.
Felipe Massa – Racing driver
« I really think the Monte-Carlo race can be the turning point of our season. We will have new things in our aerodynamic package. We had a start to the season we did not expect, but we have improved a lot, especially in the last race in Montmelo (Barcelona). For all these reasons, I believe our first podium of the season is getting closer. I am present, I fight with the whole team to improve race by race. »
« Regarding my driving, I think it’s positive. In many races I was always there, among the top five, before problems appeared and prevented me from finishing the race. During this time, we worked on the aerodynamics and on other areas of the F60. »
« The Spanish Grand Prix left me with good feelings; it was a race different from the others. I believe in the team, I still hope for a comeback on our part, both in the constructors’ and drivers’ championships.
