The most famous french Formula 1 cameraman, Jean Michel Tibi, releases his book

Axel Brémond, longtime editor for Motors Inside, helped Jean Michel Tibi publish his memoirs. The whole thing, under the direction of Frédéric Veille, RTL’s F1 reporter. This book is essential for any Formula 1 fan’s library.

Jean Michel Tibi is passionate about photography but not really about Formula 1. In his early days in the workforce, he worked as a courier. So, in Paris, he tells unbelievable stories such as being offered a job by the police after running several red lights : “I absolutely had to see the person who ran eighteen red lights and evaded the police… you’re a phenomenon! Don’t you want to apply to become a motorcycle officer in the police?”

His role as a courier will turn into a photographer during his military service thanks to his knowledge. As he is offered a role as a cameraman for weddings, he accepts the proposal despite his limited experience with this tool at the time. After several years, he then meets Jean-Luc Roy, a producer of documentaries on motor sports in particular and presenter on Motors TV, a show widely broadcasted on Fan-F1, the former name of casinoenlignefrance.eu.com. He will take his first steps in the world of motor sports and will never leave them again.

« These images of Max Verstappen, reigning like an eagle, of Sergio Pérez celebrating his podium like a victory, and of Lewis Hamilton and Angela Cullen who almost pass as strangers and to whom no one pays attention… An incredible moment to experience and film. » he explains about the 2021 Mexican Grand Prix.

Still in 2021, when Max Verstappen becomes world champion at the end of the last lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he recounts his memories of his inability to film Hamilton, in tears : « I had promised myself to capture tears in this final. But when I saw Lewis wiping his own, I didn’t have the strength to point my camera at him. At that moment, I was overcome with emotion. And yet, I have experienced strong emotions in my life and in my career… »

Many stories to read in the memoirs of Jean Michel Tibi. The book is available on Amazon for 17.90€.

Motors Inside will organize a contest in the coming weeks to win the book.
