BMW-Sauber driver Robert Kubica feels relieved after the end of pre-season testing.
The ban on private testing during the season has led to many official drivers completing far more laps than test drivers. The aim being to cover the greatest number of kilometers.
« The dramatic changes made to the regulations have made the test sessions very important this year, » explained Kubica.
« For this reason, we put in a lot more work during these tests. I covered more than twice the distance of a Grand Prix on our last test day in Barcelona. This is very demanding for the car but also for the driver. »
For the majority of drivers, the few tests resulted in much more intense physical and mental training programs this year.
« My physical condition and the work on the car’s reliability are perfect, » confirms the Polish driver.
« It’s still difficult to assess the competitiveness of my rivals, but one thing is certain, the BMW-Sauber team is ready. »
