A fine for Nico Hülkenberg in Singapore

Caught by the radar. During the third practice session, Nico Hülkenberg was caught by the FIA radar. The Haas driver was driving too fast in the pit lane at the Singapore circuit. Here, the pit lane speed limit is 60 km/h, due to its narrowness.

The German driver reached a speed of 63.7 km/h, according to document 19 from the FIA for this Singapore Grand Prix, which is 3.7 km/h above the authorized limit. Therefore, he will have to pay a fine of €400 for this speeding offense. The regulations state that exceeding the speed limit in the pit lane will result in a fine of €100 per km/h over, as specified in article 34.7 of the Formula 1 sporting regulations.

As a reminder, exceeding the speed limit in the pit lane during practice results in a financial penalty. But during the race, the officials impose a 5-second penalty on the race time of the responsible driver.

The FIA commissioners, who announced the penalty to Nico Hülkenberg and his team, have stated that they can appeal this penalty.
