Kazuki Nakajima was the fastest on Thursday, March 19, at the Jerez circuit, the final testing event of the 2009 season.
The Japanese driver completed a lap in 1:17.494, four-tenths of a second faster than the weekly record set on Tuesday by Jenson Button for Brawn GP.
The FW31 displayed a strong pace less than two weeks before the start of the season in Melbourne.
Nakajima finished the day ahead of Heikki Kovalainen’s McLaren. The Finn set the best time of the week for his team after 84 laps.
The Woking team once again used a brand to visualize the airflow, but this time on the chassis floor, at the same level as the diffuser.
« The team has concluded its testing program on the MP4/24, » McLaren stated in a press release.
« New components arrived from McLaren’s technology center were installed on the car for today’s session. »
Due to the ban on in-season testing, this test session in Jerez was the last one for several months and the 2010 season.
