On December 15, 2008, a Formula 1 car drove for the first time on the Autodrome International do Algarve in Portugal, where Ferrari and McLaren are conducting their final tests of the year.
However, very strong gusts of wind have hindered the progress of both teams.
Brazilian Felipe Massa for Ferrari only completed 36 laps before ending his test session because he didn’t feel comfortable. His best time was 1:32.926.
The other driver involved is the McLaren-Mercedes test driver, Gary Paffett, who completed 63 laps with a best time of 1:31.788. The Briton was in an MP4-23 equipped with the 2009 front wings that the team presented last week in Jerez.
The two teams will continue to work on this Algarve circuit tomorrow and Wednesday.
