Netflix releases the trailer and announces the release date for Drive To Survive: Season 5!

“Drive to Survive” is a documentary series produced by Netflix that follows the behind-the-scenes of Formula 1. The series provides an exclusive insight into the strategies, tensions, and rivalries of the Formula 1 teams and drivers, as well as moments of victory and defeat. It has been highly acclaimed by critics and Formula 1 fans for its production quality and ability to showcase the most human aspects of the competition.

The fifth season of the series will follow the events of the 2022 Formula 1 season, where Max Verstappen and Red Bull dominated the championship at the expense of Charles Leclerc.

The strategy mishaps of Ferrari, the rough patch for Mercedes, and Max Verstappen’s 15 race victories, breaking a new record, will undoubtedly be topics discussed in this new season.

At the beginning of last year, Season 4 sparked controversy within the paddock, being criticized as too fanciful and unrepresentative of reality. The F1 director then initiated discussions with Netflix in order to review their approach.

Season 5 of Drive To Survive, or Driver of their Destiny, will be released on Netflix on the 24th of February 2023, a few days after the launch of the new Formula 1 cars and during the winter private testing in Bahrain, which will take place from the 23rd to the 25th of February 2023.

James Gay-Rees and Paul Martin are the executive producers of this series, with James Gay-Rees already having experience in producing award-winning documentaries like Senna, and Paul Martin having experience in producing Diego Maradona.

This implies that they are responsible for the overall supervision of the production of this documentary series and that they work with the production company Box-to-Box Films.
