Audi is already involved with Sauber and welcomes the arrival of Andreas Seidl
Andreas Seidl has just been announced as head of the Alfa Romeo team in 2023, and although Audi won't replace Alfa Romeo until 2026, the German group is already making it known that decisions are being taken by mutual agreement.
Oliver Hoffmann, the Director of Technologies at Audi, has announced through a statement that they are delighted to welcome the announcement of a new director for the Alfa Romeo Sauber team, who will become Audi in 2026.
A few weeks ago, Audi announced its arrival in Formula 1 with an exclusive partnership with the Hinwil factory Sauber. As a result, Alfa Romeo will no longer be the title sponsor of the team, and starting from 2025, Sauber will be renamed to Audi team in 2026.
The press release states that in anticipation of Audi’s arrival as a partner in Sauber in 2026, the choice made is promising. Oliver Hoffmann also explains that Andreas Seidl’s experience is important in both motor sports and Formula 1. His number of past races on the circuits is impressive.
This statement, published a few minutes after the one from Alfa Romeo Sauber, aims to show that the Hinwil factory consulted Audi for the choice of Frédéric Vasseur’s replacement at Alfa Romeo Sauber, even though Audi will only officially be present in Formula 1 in 2026.
