Frenchman Isack Hadjar to be a reserve for Red Bull and AlphaTauri next year
French driver Isack Hadjar, currently in F2, is set to be named as reserve driver for the Red Bull and AlphaTauri teams in Formula 1 next year. He is expected to drive alongside Daniel Ricciardo, who will return to Red Bull as a reserve driver, according to Helmut Marko.
Helmut Marko has confirmed discussions with Daniel Ricciardo – who is leaving McLaren at the end of this season and does not have a regular seat for 2023. The Australian driver will therefore be a reserve driver for both Red Bull and AlphaTauri next year, the contracts just need to be finalized.
However, he will not be the only reserve driver. As part of the Red Bull program, Parisian driver Isack Hadjar will also be a reserve driver next year. At least, that’s what Canal+ commentator Julien Fébreau claims this weekend in Abu Dhabi.
Isack Hadjar finished 4th in the F3 championship in his first season. He is one of the top prospects in the Red Bull program and has impressed Helmut Marko this year.
Note that the role of reserve driver allows young drivers to sign up for free practice sessions 1 multiple times during the season, participate in the simulator, and above all, be present at the Grand Prix to observe and become familiar with Formula 1.
In the event of the inability of the assigned driver to race, it will be the substitute driver, namely Daniel Ricciardo, who will have to pilot.
Hadjar will be racing in F2 next year, confirmed Helmut Marko. According to our information, it will be with Hitech.
