Verstappen and Norris under investigation at Suzuka after qualifying
The drivers Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Lando Norris (McLaren) have been summoned to the race stewards after their qualifying session. Max Verstappen could potentially lose his pole position.
During the last part of the qualifying session, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris were warming up their tires on a preparation lap. Max Verstappen, driving at a significantly reduced speed, quickly saw Norris approaching in his rearview mirrors.
In order to avoid an inconvenience, the Red Bull driver wanted to accelerate but almost lost control of his car as it started to slide. As Lando Norris was approaching, he was forced to dodge the Red Bull to the left, onto the grass, dangerously overtaking Verstappen.
The race commissioners have summoned both drivers. Verstappen could lose the benefit of the pole position obtained in Suzuka if a grid penalty is imposed for dangerous driving.
