Pierre Gasly to be announced at Alpine in a few hours in Suzuka
While Canal+ has already announced that Nyck de Vries has signed with AlphaTauri for next season, there is still no official confirmation from the teams regarding the future of Nyck de Vries, as well as Pierre Gasly. However, the announcement is imminent.
The journalist and commentator of Canal+, Julien Fébreau, had already announced last week the signing of Dutch driver Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri in place of Pierre Gasly. This announcement, although unofficial, is certain based on the information held by the Canal+ journalist.
This situation implies de facto that Pierre Gasly may have found an interesting offer from Alpine for the 2023 F1 season. The French driver, under the Red Bull umbrella since the beginning of his career, would therefore join Esteban Ocon next season for a 100% French line-up.
AlphaTauri and Alpine have not yet officially communicated anything, but according to Julien Fébreau, the announcement appears imminent and should be formalized by the Free Practice 3 of the Japanese Grand Prix, which will take place tonight between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.
As a reminder, Fernando Alonso has decided to join Aston Martin next season, which has left a seat available at Alpine. Initially, Helmut Marko refused any departure of Gasly, but an agreement was eventually reached thanks to Nyck de Vries’ good performances in Italy when he replaced Alexander Albon at Williams for medical reasons.
