Bottas caught speeding in the pit lane at Suzuka

The FIA measures the speed in the pits with a radar. Limited to 80 km/h at Suzuka, it is Valtteri Bottas who is the first driver to be caught speeding, exceeding the limit by only 4.2 km/h. The Alfa Romeo driver was caught at 84.2 km/h and will have to pay a fine of 500€.

The regulation provides for sanctioning each km/h above the limit with a fine directly attributed to the driver and not to the team of 100€ rounded up to the nearest km/h.

Bottas is one of the most frequently penalized drivers for this rule violation. It’s the 4th time this season in 18 races. It’s worth noting that no points are deducted from the driver’s super license for this violation.
