Verstappen can win the F1 title in Singapore if

With a 117-point lead over his closest rival, Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen could be crowned F1 champion for the second time this Sunday in Singapore.

The Red Bull driver will only need to win the race and a bit of luck. In fact, Charles Leclerc must not finish the race better than 8th position. If Leclerc finishes 7th or better, it is therefore mathematically impossible. However, if Verstappen does not score the bonus point for the fastest lap, Leclerc will have to finish 9th or lower to offer the title to his competitor.

This is also the case for the 3rd in the standings and Max Verstappen’s teammate: Sergio Perez will have to finish at best 5th to hope to keep a slim hope of winning the title if Verstappen wins.

If mathematics are reliable, it remains nonetheless a difficult challenge for Max Verstappen. Indeed, Charles Leclerc is in pole position, while the Dutchman could only achieve the 8th time due to a lack of fuel in his Red Bull at the very end of the qualifying session.

The rain that fell on the circuit and delayed the start is still a sign of unpredictability, so anything can still happen during this 2022 Singapore Grand Prix.
