It’s official, Williams is parting ways with Latifi at the end of the season!
Williams and Nicholas Latifi will end their collaboration at the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season. The information left little doubt about his replacement, but some rumors already positioned Latifi as a substitute before the end of the season. The Canadian driver will therefore be without a seat at the end of the year.
Williams is at the heart of transfers at the end of this season. It was known that Nicholas Latifi, a full-time F1 driver since 2020, was under scrutiny due to performances below expectations. The Canadian driver could have even been replaced earlier in the season, according to some rumors, as early as the French Grand Prix. Ultimately, Williams finally confirms that they will part ways with the Canadian driver, but only at the end of the season.
Latifi, for his part, does not have a seat for 2022 and is not on the lists of Haas or Alpine. Therefore, it is unlikely to see him in F1 in 2023, although a substitute role could be considered. The Canadian said he felt honored to have represented the team for 3 seasons.
So, I’m parting ways with @WilliamsRacing at the end of the year.
Honoured to have represented them for the last 3 years. A massive thanks to the whole team – it’s been an incredible journey and I’ve enjoyed every second of it.
Determined to end 2022 positively. 6 races left! pic.twitter.com/gN5xWsUUH2

Nicholas Latifi, who has achieved a career-best 7th position, also wished to use this opportunity to thank the factory and the people at Williams on track for his last 3 seasons. “Getting my first points in Hungary last year was a moment I will never forget,” he detailed.
There are still 6 Grand Prix races left for Latifi to demonstrate his potential, and he has said he is still motivated: “I will put in every possible effort until the end of the season before moving on to the next chapter of my career.”
Jost Capito, Team Director, wanted to thank his driver: “I speak for the whole team, and I want to thank Nicholas for his three years of hard work by our side. He is a great asset with a strong team spirit. He has a perfect attitude and a lot of respect. Our time together is coming to an end, but I know that we will both make every effort to finish 2022 in the best possible way.”
