Max Verstappen, the equal of Niki Lauda and Jim Clark
The Red Bull driver secured his 25th victory in F1 and has further etched himself into the history of the sport.
He is only 24 years old but already has a track record worthy of the greatest in Formula 1. This Sunday, June 12, 2022, Max Verstappen obtained his 25th victory in the premier category of motor sports. With this performance, the Dutchman equals two heavyweights of the discipline. Indeed, with 25 wins, he equals Niki Lauda and Jim Clark in terms of victories in F1. He is also only two units away from matching another legend, Jackie Stewart (27).
The reigning world champion is also close to equaling Valtteri Bottas in terms of podium finishes. This weekend, the Dutch driver climbed onto the podium for the 66th time, compared to 67 for the Finnish driver. So, this Sunday in Canada, the Red Bull driver could reach the same level as Lewis Hamilton’s former teammate.
Another statistic that shows that Max Verstappen is a precocity example, he has already exceeded Kimi Räikkönen in terms of kilometers led in his career (6,717 against 6,614).
The Red Bull driver also took part in his 149th Grand Prix and matched René Arnoux in the history of F1.
