Albon penalized with a 5-second penalty and 1 point deducted in Barcelona
While track limits are defined and discussed at drivers' briefings, Alex Albon couldn't adhere to them during the race on Sunday. He has been penalized with a 5-second penalty and has lost 1 point on his license.
The FIA has issued a reprimand to Alex Albon at the end of the Spanish Grand Prix, imposing a 5-second penalty and deducting 1 point from his driver’s license. The reason? Non-compliance with track limits multiple times during the Grand Prix.
The commissioners watched the videos multiple times and did not find any reasons justifying the Williams driver’s failure to respect the track limits. The commissioners did not specify the exact number of times in question, however, a black and white flag was shown after at least three track limit infringements. Therefore, it could be at least 4 occurrences during the 66 laps of the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix.
This is the second time this season that Albon has lost points on his license. He now has 9 points remaining over a rolling 1-year period.
