Esteban Ocon furious about the lack of Tecpro at the location of his crash

The turns 13 and 14 caught many drivers off guard, including Carlos Sainz and Esteban Ocon. Indeed, both drivers went off track and destroyed their respective cars, during FP2 and FP3.

After his accident, which cost him his participation in the qualifications, Esteban Ocon reacted and expressed criticism about the lack of safety in that section of the circuit, after having requested the installation of Tecpro, which was not implemented.

« It is unacceptable that there is no Tecpro at that location. We discussed it with Carlos yesterday, we talked about it with the race management, unfortunately, it was not taken into account, what happened. It was 51 g, after all. So, Carlos got hurt yesterday, and I got hurt today as well. The FIA clearly needs to push for more safety and thoroughly assess these places that may not seem like big impacts but turn out to be in the end. »

According to information from Auto Motor und Sport, the Spaniard reportedly suffered a sprained neck during his accident, while Esteban Ocon injured his knee, which hit against the steering wheel of his Alpine.
