7 armed drones intercepted by the army in Saudi Arabia

The situation is, to say the least, tense currently in Saudi Arabia. At war with Yemen for several years, the Houthis conducted an attack this Friday using no less than 8 armed drones.

An explosion occurred during the first free practice session of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, a few kilometers away from the Jeddah circuit. The explosion, at the Aramco petroleum depot, main sponsor of the F1 and the Saudi Arabian GP, was caused by an armed drone, claimed by the Houthis, a Yemeni community.

While a terrorist attack had already been foiled a few weeks ago at the airport, the Arabnews website claims that 7 armed drones, in addition to the one that caused the fire, were intercepted by the Saudi army.

According to a government statement, the life of the general public has not been affected by these attacks, even though two oil tanks are on fire.

The Saudi authorities have also indicated that they support discussions with Gulf countries regarding negotiations with Yemen on the reasons for this war.

A meeting is expected between the GPDA, the Drivers Association, Liberty Media, and the Grand Prix organizers this Friday evening to determine the next steps to be taken for this event which was already controversial last year.
