Carlos Sainz: “Ferrari is back!”

Under the pressure from Sergio Perez several times during the Bahrain Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz benefited from the two retirements at Red Bull. While the third place seemed to be the best possible outcome for Sainz, this double finish marks Ferrari’s return to the spotlight. Let’s remember that Ferrari now obviously takes the lead in the constructors’ championship.

« First of all, congratulations to Charles and Ferrari. Ferrari is back, and back strong with a 1-2 finish. This is where the team should have been in the past two seasons, but it’s great, we are back. » Carlos Sainz rejoices.

Nevertheless, Carlos Sainz’s joy is limited at the end of this Grand Prix. « I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t find the rhythm all weekend, but I managed to pull off this double and I will come back even stronger. » affirms the Ferrari driver, who seems to have found common ground with Mattia Binotto.

Asked about Red Bull’s setbacks and his overtaking of Max Verstappen, the Spaniard spoke out. “On the restart, I had a good chance to pass him but I didn’t succeed, and then I saw the red lights come on behind his car and I thought it was my chance. And then, behind me, I saw that he was no longer there and that he had to retire. It’s unfortunate for him, but things are as they are. It’s good for Ferrari,” declares Carlos Sainz.
