The FIA has asked Russian and Belarusian drivers to commit to signing a letter of commitment in order to participate in FIA motor racing competitions under a neutral and apolitical banner. Here are the details of what is being asked of the drivers.

I acknowledge the requirements enabling me to participate in FIA events.

1. I accept the conditions dictated by the decisions of the World Motor Sport Council of March 1, 2022. I understand that refusal or failure to comply with these conditions will constitute an offense under Article 12 2.1.e of the FIA Sporting Regulations and may result in a sanction or penalty.

2. I acknowledge the strong commitment made by the FIA to stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people, the Automobile Federation of Ukraine, and all those who are suffering as a result of this conflict.

3. I acknowledge that I could only participate as an individual and neutral person, and not as a representative of Russia or Belarus.

4. I will not display any Russian or Belarusian national symbols, any colors from the flag publicly or on social media.

5. I will not attach any device or connection to my suit, nor my clothes or accessories, nor my personal belongings or vehicles that may create a connection to these elements.

  • The current or historical Russian or Belarusian flag
  • An illustration or reference to the Russian or Belarusian flag
  • A national symbol of the countries Russia or Belarus
  • No words: “Russian”, “Russia”, “Belarusian”, “Belarus”, “Automobile Federation of Belarus”, “Automobile Federation of Russia”, nor the acronyms “RUS”, “RAF”, “BAF”, “SBA”, “BLR” in any language or form.
  • The emblem of the Automobile Federation of Russia or the Automobile Federation of Belarus

6. I acknowledge that the national anthem of Russia or Belarus cannot be played during the events in which I will participate. I will not play or sing their national anthems during an official event.

7. I will not issue any statement or comment, take any action that could go against the interests of the FIA, the competition, or motorsports in general. Specifically, I will not show any direct or indirect support for Russian or Belarusian activities out of respect for Ukraine.

8. I acknowledge at any time:

  • The regulations of the FIA include procedures, guidelines, circulars, and amendments
  • All decisions, rules, and directions requested by the FIA
  • The sanctions to be applied

9. I acknowledge and accept that the FIA may implement new restrictions or measures based on the events in which I will participate, and I understand that I may be denied access to certain events and will accept the measures and decisions.

10. I have read and understood the content of this commitment and I acknowledge its legal value for me.
