Positive for Covid-19, Jost Capito will not travel to Jeddah

All F1 staff traveling to Saudi Arabia from the UK had to undergo a PCR test within 72 hours of travel before taking a new test upon arrival in Jeddah.

Williams confirmed in a statement on Thursday that team principal Jost Capito will be unable to make the trip after testing positive for Covid-19.

Williams Racing confirms that the team principal and CEO, Jost Capito, tested positive for Covid-19 before traveling to Saudi Arabia this weekend. Jost is now following the guidance of the UK’s national health authorities. The rest of the staff is unaffected, and the team will continue to operate on track as planned.

The weekend marks the first Grand Prix in Williams’ history since the death of its founder just a few days ago, Sir Frank Williams. The team and F1 have planned tributes that will take place in Jeddah. Details will be confirmed in the hours or days to come.
