The Alpine drivers expect to have an interesting experience in Jeddah

Struggling against AlphaTauri in recent races, Alpine managed to inflict a 25-0 defeat on Red Bull’s sister team in Qatar. Can the French team secure its fifth place in the constructors’ standings for good in Jeddah?

Fifth in Losail, Esteban Ocon hopes for a weekend as good as the previous one in Saudi Arabia. “It will be interesting to go to Saudi Arabia and discover this new circuit,” said the Frenchman in a team statement. “I hope we will be as good here as in Qatar, preparation is crucial when going to new tracks.”

« I have learned the circuit well on the simulator to avoid any bad surprises once on the track. I like this kind of crazy circuit, like Baku, we will be constantly on the edge.

Fernando Alonso, who has secured his 98th podium in F1 in Qatar (only Hamilton, Vettel, and Räikkönen have done better among current drivers), is playing the card of caution and prefers not to compare this new track to another for now.

« It will be a new experience for everyone, and according to our analysis, it will be a fast track, with very high speeds. I prefer not to compare this layout to another at the moment, I will have a better idea after Friday’s testing. We have visited several new tracks this year, so we have a rough idea of where we are going, but each new destination brings its share of surprises. Let’s just hope we have a weekend as good as in Qatar.

If Alpine scores 19 points more than AlphaTauri this Sunday, the French team will be guaranteed to keep its fifth place in the championship.
